Brake Fluid Flush

1.) What is a brake fluid flush?
The basic idea behind a brake fluid flush is to replace old brake fluid that could potentially be corroding your expensive brake parts with fresh brake fluid.

2.) Why should I flush my brake fluid regularly?
Brake fluid absorbs water like a sponge; it absorbs water right out of the air and as it does this two very bad things happen. First, it causes the boiling point of the fluid to decrease thereby decreasing braking performance. Brakes generate a lot of heat and the fluid can get very hot, hot enough to boil given that the boiling point of the fluid has decreased because of the absorbed water. When it boils, the brake fluid changes from a liquid to a gas and cannot transfer energy to the brake pads like a liquid can. Aside from that, the moisture causes the brake fluid to become corrosive which can damage almost all the expensive parts of your brake system.

3.) How often should I flush my brake fluid?
Your brake fluid should be flushed yearly, but never wait longer than two years to have it done. Spending a few dollars on getting this flush done regularly can save you thousands of dollars on parts like your ABS modular pump.
